A Cappella Oddities...
This album is an a cappella trio fronted by the prolific Yoshida Tatsuya (Ruins, Koenjihyakkei, Korekyojin, etc.). This is "out" music for sure; and, at the same time, it is more than that. The songs are rhymthmically & melodically catchy & engaging. From a compositional standpoint, these songs are similar to Yoshida's previous efforts and the diference being the format in which they are presented; in this case by three vocalists. As the description states on the disc, there are recognizable styles such as doo-wop, vocal chanting, cartoon music, etc. What Yoshida does with these styles is integrate his own compositional style into them making for an interesting and enjoyable hybrid of a cappella oddities.

Wacky Accapella...
Wow!All I can say about this masterpiece is that if you're not open, don't bother. Zubi Zuva is a Japanese trio led by Yoshida Tatsuya of The Ruins, so fans of them, you know what you're in for (sort of). These three do nothig but unaccompanied "singing" in styles that range "from doo-wop, hardcore, and loonney toons" amongst other styles. If you're a fan of Jaap Blonk or Kurt Schwitters (which you should be if you're not) you're getting kind of close to how these three sound.This CD is so incredible that not only can you enjoy it on it's own terms, you can also use it as a weapon of terrorism ( I know this from personal experience). Put in on and watch you're enemies clear the room! (and maybe some friends to!) I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys their music extra bizarre without the least bit of pretension.
